A breakthrough car for Opel, which in the mid-range segment for the first time exceeded one million units produced, was the REKORD. The most famous Opel Rekord \"Schwarze Witwe\" was made in secret! As part of the General Motors concern, Opel was banned from racing. Nevertheless, factory workers prepared a sports version of the Rekord with a 180 HP engine. Thanks to the yellow appliqués on black paint, it was nicknamed the \"Race Taxi\" and \"Black Widow\". The car became a sensation and participated in spectacular races. As a result of bans from the GM management, the car was taken to Austria, where all traces of it were lost.
